Hi,

I recently updated my phone to the new Android update. Then yesterday evening my phone dumped its power, going from around 16% to 0% in less than 5 minutes. I wasn't using the phone at the time and the screen was off - although I had just checked for notifications at 16%.

The battery history in the settings shows that the battery power went vertically downwards.

After restarting the phone, I found it unresponsive. I've since figured out that it's the top half of the touchscreen that is unresponsive, from about the level of the power button upwards. It will work on occasions, and so is not completely broken, but otherwise no swipe of press in this portion of the screen has any effect. The screen is not damaged in that portion of the phone - there is a very faint hairline crack in the lower half of the screen on the lower left side, but this is over a year old.

I have restarted the phone many times, deleted the cache partition, and closed all open apps - not of which has worked. On a rare occasion it has work perfectly again, only to then stop working.

I hadn't installed any new software, changed the settings and the phone does not have a virus or other malware.

I'm not sure if it's related, but if I hold the power button, the menu has the power off button greyed out now, so I can only restart it - if I want to shut down I need to hold the power and volume buttons down.

Are there any suggestions on how to fix this without having to do a factory reset? Thanks
