Have you updated to the latest version of Samsung Wallet and accompanying platform software. (Checking for updates on the Galaxy Store may be helpful). Is NFC enabled in Settings, Connections? Is your bank signed up to Samsung Pay?
One other point that threw me initially is that you have to use your authentication method once you've opened Samsung Wallet and before you can make a payment. i.e. your fingerprint but presumably your pin if you enabled that option. I had assumed you could just open the app and tap like with Google Pay, but you can't.
Hope you get it sorted and that some more knowledgeable people than me can make some better suggestions!

As mentioned in the thread - there is no specific date set for the release of the stable version. Please try what @redsunset2022 suggested as these are some really good tips that can solve the issue. You can also try to clear Samsung Pay cache or even perform Wipe Cache Partition. If nothing works, please send an error report through Samsung Pay so that the developers can assist you further 😊

I've downloaded samsung curve and then samsung pay +. Not sure how why or what but it allows me to use contactless. I'm really pleased and thanks for your help.
