I think AI is a fad, it's fun but will never replace real art or images, to be honest though how many photos from even the so called professionals go through software processing packages like light room, we rarely see an image untouched today. So is AI just the next step into the increasingly false world. I am old enough to remember sending my camera film to be produced & waiting a week or so to come back untouched & as seen through the lens. I do not like the way this world is headed to be honest. Yes I have seen my psychiatrist & he said I am fine.

Hi @Deanbed  obviously "real"  Art has given so much joy throughout time, I do not have a problem with using technology to enhance it though it depends how it is used.   personally I do not think AI is a fad and will continually advance, obviously there are some risks though  and the benefits will differ in various fields.

I do not work for Samsung or make Samsung Products but provide independent advice and valuable contributions.

Maybe it's not a fad but now it's created but it's likely you will never see real images as before. take for example I have photos of my Nan & Grandad & others with every wrinkle & scar & normal size eyes, these today are being edited for vanity & perfection & even not looking like the person by the time they slimmed them down and added false makeup. We are beginning to live in a false phase of evolution & that's definitely a fact. My other hobby involves my ancestry & I love it when I see my REAL ancestors images. Generations to come will not.

AI is really only another tool to use. It's becoming ever more popular and like editing will just become part of these programs.
Personally like my Panasonic Lumix S1. I can do more with it the way I like, plus the sensor captures far more detail.
Thing is with digital cameras, the software interprets an image, and gives a representation of what the software has decided.
So capturing in RAW gives you far more detail. But you have to edit the image. Which then is down to that person to interpret.
AI will make the editing easier and faster eventually.

But don't despair, as film photography is becoming more popular again. With some mainstream professional photographers using it.
Currently it's expensive though. But I'm sure the more popular it becomes, it will be more affordable long term.
Film does have a look to it digital cannot replicate at the moment.

We live in a very materialistic superficial world, thanks to social media.

I must admit it's only recently I have used raw on my mobile but only because they are getting more like real cameras. I do have a canon slr & it still amazes me compared to my mobile of past, it's only this recent s24 ultra in raw that I am starting to be impressed. Like I said its the false world of today who doesn't want selfies or images that aren't perfect. Ie photo should also be documentation of the real past & people warts & all.

Agreed. I am a beginner photographer and I dislike any form of ai. I process my images naturally, or sometimes, make them stand out, without the use of any ai tool.

The fun in creating is doing it yourself, and being proud of something you did yourself

I do exactly what you do & been doing it since I took up photography 45 years ago. It's great creating the best you can from a photograph that really should have been taken properly in the first place using the correct gear & procedures, unfortunately that gear is very expensive & the knowledge to do it correctly is hard for some to grasp. You say you process your Images naturally ?, I presume you mean with a PC & software like ai does, now ai need to be told a worded very carefully asking it to achieve the perfect photo from your original shot, in fact AI requires knowledge & skill to create exactly what you need just like the software that many still create the images we use today. Both create what we want to see. But I haven't seen AI do it without a lot of input yet. Just saying none are doing it as you say naturally. Imagine like me in the 1970s having to wait for the photos to come back in the post 2 weeks later. We got it good.

I use software that doesn't use ai, and I edit naturally, not changing the scene, just the luminance of the pixels, sometimes the RGB values.
I don't think ai is very ethical, as it does scrape tons of artists' work, photos or painting and what not, and typically doesn't ask for permission. And all that ai does is search for keywords, and merge the keyworded images together.. there is no replacing authenticity, the REAL thing.

Update I have found a use for AI, I use it for creating unrealistic, cartoon type or wierd images that you could only Imagine, & having fun.image (7)~2_1000086661_1736479226.jpgimage (5)_1000086572_1736350693.jpgimage (1)_1000086523_1736200805.jpgtemp_output1~2_1736116503437_1000086367_1736116503.jpg
