Do 50MP pictures take up too much space?

Hey guys, quick question. I love shooting pictures on my S25, but sometimes the 12MP mode misses details. The 50MP mode is amazing, but does it use way more space, or just a little extra? Here's a comparison, btw.

Hey there

Where possible I tend to use the 200mp camera on the S25U given how much improved it is.

My device has 512gb so don't expect to run out of space for a good few years 👍

Larger Mp will use more memory
You can see by looking at the photos in your gallery
Swipe up on the photo and you will see how much the file size is.
The file size will vary a little, depends on various things including details and about of colours etc to name a couple

By way of example

12mp image takes up about 5 to 6 mb of storage.

200mp takes up between 50 and 60mb of storage.

As I rarely use 50mp I can only suggest that it may take up between 12 to 15mb of storage.

Hope that helps you decide.

Lovely photos. Although in the first shot the eyes disturbingly follow you.

It's really a question of what your intentions are of the photo and whether zooming into the fine details will matter.

Personally I'm of the belief that since you can never redo the moments a photo can carry, the highest details are best. However this really does depend on how often you take photos as well. There's also the question of how you like to retain your pictures, cloud or physical storage. The options are almost limitless. In the end it comes down to you as a user and your needs.
