persistent voicemail notifications

Samsung Galaxy S8 voicemail notification keeps reappearing but there are no new messages. I can clear the notification by going into my call settings and clearing the cache and clearing data but still the voicemail notification comes back in a day or two but there are no new messages in my voicemail

Follow the steps in clear cache, it may or may not work. It didn't work for someone else that posted the same issue. It's worth trying though.

thank you but I've already tried the steps at the link you gave but still the voicemail notification keeps coming back
