HEIC Images lose all meta data on edit (Samsung Gallery)

Hi,
as the title states, any edit in the Gallery app of an HEIC image deletes all meta data in that image. It also converts in to JPG, which is weird but I don't mind too much. This is true even for a simple 90 degrees rotation.

I am on a S22 Ultra with current OS and Gallery app.

Does anyone have a tip for me? I am avoiding editing at the moment, because I do not want to lose my precious meta data. 😞

Sorry, I dont have a solution but can see this happens on other devices including Apple. The data also seems to disappear from files backed up to the cloud.
