Hello everyone, how can I transfer individual photos or individual files to my SSD portable drive from my Galaxy S20+ phone? I've tried but what comes up is Smart Switch with option to backup everything. In another question, what does the term 'backup ' mean, ie: will everything leave from my Phone or any other device onto the SSD drive if I use Smart Switch? Thanks in advance

Hello @crazeT  👋

I use Samsung SmartSwitch to copy across my Gallery to my new phone.

In my experience It leaves the photo's still in the previous phone's Samsung Gallery.

Daily Driver > Samsung Galaxy s²⁵ Ultra 512Gb ~ Titanium Black.

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.
I'm here to help. " This is the way. "

Ok thanks for your reply & I know about that sort of transfer because I've done it many times. You are using same accounts.

My question is not from phone to phone but an outside portable hardrive. Thanks anyway for taking the time to respond.

To transfer individual photos or files from your Galaxy S20+ to your SSD portable drive, you have a few options. Here’s a step-by-step guide for each method:

Method 1. Using a USB-C Adapter or OTG Cable
If your SSD has a USB-C port or if you have an OTG (On-The-Go) cable or USB-C adapter:
Step 1: Connect the SSD to your Galaxy S20+ using the USB-C port or OTG cable.
Step 2: Once connected, your phone should detect the SSD. Swipe down the notification panel and select the "USB for file transfer" option.
Step 3: Open the My Files app on your phone.
Step 4: Navigate to the folder where your photos or files are stored (e.g., DCIM for photos).
Step 5: Select the files or photos you want to transfer by holding down on each one.
Step 6: Tap Move or Copy, then choose your SSD as the destination and paste the files there.

Method 2. Using a Computer as an Intermediary
If you have a computer, you can also transfer files in two steps:
Step 1: Connect your Galaxy S20+ to the computer via USB. Select File Transfer mode on the phone.
Step 2: Open the File Explorer on your computer, go to your phone’s storage, and copy the photos or files you want.
Step 3: Connect your SSD to the computer and paste the files onto it.

Hope this will be your help.
