S21 loses 4G connectivity

My Galaxy S21 sometimes loses the internet connection despite showing the 4G icon. Switching airplane mode on and off brings it back for a minute or so, but repeated internet speed tests show progressively lower download speeds,  till it reaches 0. I'm in an area with very strong signal, and even when the connection works it can range from 200 to 20 Mbps in a matter of minutes. I've tried to reset the network settings, and Android is updated. Also changing operator, and hence SIM card, didn't helped.

By Googling the problem there are lots of users that report extremely unstable internet connections. See for example

Are all S21 like mine?

I bought my s21ultra from samsung estore online. It arrived with broken seal, the one that says DO NOT ACCEPT IF SEAL IS BROKEN. I tried calling and emailing them to let me know what to do but no answer.

Now I am stuck with this same issue. The phone loses internet connectivity over cellular network, intermitently, for a few minutes every couple of hours. I confirmed it is not caused by network because as many folks said it happens with both sims on different networks, and in different countries in my case. I also moved the sim to an old phone and it works fine.

The bigger issue is the service center. They keep saying the phone is working fine because they just check it every now and then. They have no tool to do a continous ping test over a full day. I did that test to show them the log files demonstrating the down time, yet they do not approve it. In same time they do not have any corresponding tool to do a continious test to verify the issue. They just run their check up a few times then return the phone!

I have raised a CEO case and an engineer is following up with me over the phone. Do not know how this is going to end. Very bad experience.

Hi folks

I've got an S21 5g model that's having the same issues. I've also noticed really bad call disruption, people can't hear me, line cuts out etc. A few people have mentioned getting a new mainboard, mine has been in the shop twice for diagnosis, they usually blame the network, third time it went off for repairs and they changed the main board. Unfortunately I'm starting to see the issue occurs again. Not sure where to go from here, I'll contact Samsung again but what do you ask for, a new phone that might have the same issue or ask for a refund I doubt I'll get?

I've had this issue ever since purchasing my S21 Ultra. I seem to have stumbled on a fix while fiddling with my phone. Try resetting wallpaper to the default wallpaper and turning off dynamic screensaver. It seems to have done the trick for me.

Hi. I have exactly the same problem with my Galaxy S21 in Poland. It all started after Android 12 update. On Adroid 11 everything was fine.

I was hoping that the January 2022 update (which was supposed to fix 900+ android 12 bugs) will fix the problem, but it didn't. Pls share if you find any solution.

Same problem for my wifes S21 an my S21 ultra in Luxembourg. It s unbearable and I hope that a solution will be found soon. Signals are all strong and with other phones and same Sim everything works flawless. Guess it s a software issue and hope that Samsung is working on it.

It doesn't look like they are working on it because I never saw any acknowledgement from Samsung about this problem, neither generally nor in my specific case. I am having a very bad experience with customer service, they are not taking any action other than lots of lame smart tutor sessions trying to gather log files that never work.

That are some great news 😠

Always had Samsung phones and always been happy with. But a so-called flagship for such a price which isn't even capable of maintaining a stable internet connection....this is definitely my last Samsung phone ever.

I had the exactly same issue started about a week ago. Signal dropped very frequently, it is super annoying when I needed to use the phone urgently for work. I went to Samsung service centre just now and told them about the situation and actions that I had tried, which includes reset network setting, replace sim card and replace physical sim card to eSIM etc.

First things Samsung recommended was to wipe all data from the phone and reset. It sounded easy for the technician doing the repair, but for user wise it is extremely painful especially when you have tonnes of work related information inside the phone. I was a Samsung users since 2012, never had I faced problem like this before, but now it is causing so much of problem at work everyday.
