S21 - 4-digit pin without pressing OK

I know there are other posts about this topic but I thought I would start one specifically for the S21.
I've just bought another one of these phones (had one for a few months) and the new one won't let me set a 4-digit pin without having to press OK to unlock. The previous phone did allow this.
I have read extensively all the posts and watched all the Youtube vids about entering two extra numbers then quickly deleting them at the same time as pressing 'next' and I have tried this for hours and been unsuccessful.
I have also tried the suggestion of un-ticking then re-ticking the "Confirm pin without tapping OK" box. Doesn't work.
This is the strange part. Both phones have One UI 7.0 and Android 15.
I don't want to use a 6-digit pin and I also don't want to use pattern or fingerprint.
I know I am not the only person in this situation, so what do we do about it?

Hi! Welcome to the samsung members community!

You cant. Not with 4 pin

To put it bluntly I dont believe there is away around it with the 4pin. And if you dont want to use fingerprint, longer pin or pattern, not much else to say to this

The reason it won't let you is because a 4 digit pin can be cracked in a few hours. A 6 digit pin takes a lot lot longer. If someone were to try and get into a 4 digit pin phone, it wouldn't be too hard.

I can understand that a 4-digit pin doesn't offer much security, but I can live with that. It's a trade-off between security and ease of use. When I am driving in the car with the phone on the mount, entering a 4-digit PIN is hard enough as it is.

In that case, you could use smart lock to keep your phone unlocked when it's connected to your car's Bluetooth. It's built into the phone already.

I should also say you shouldn't be touching your phone while driving... thats illegal.

Setup a voice assistant and use waze or google maps to display on your phone as you drive.

Thank you for the info. There is so much going on in these phones! That will certainly help when it is in the car. I'd still like to be able to bypass the OK button at other times. Maybe someone will come up with a solution.
