Major regression to navbar functionality

Previously users were able to have 3 gesture zones for: back, home, and show running apps. It has been replaced with a pancake and the "back" gesture zone is now on both side edges of the screen. I have an option to a) use that broken gesture feature or b) use buttons. The working feature has been replaced by a broken one. The correct approach would be to leave users with a choice - after all this is an android, not an apple system.

This is a regression that really shows in all apps with horizontal scrolling where side swipes are recognized as "go back"

In addition - if i want to see the running apps now i have to swipe up and hold for a little while otherwise it goes "home" - the operation that took fractions of a second, was unambiguous, now takes longer.

I just use the three buttons as I find swiping up a pain to use.

One of those changes that Google has made to accommodate the new AI features.
To be honest, now I have got used to it. I find I can zip round quite easily navigating
You have the option of downloading Samsung Goodlock and the Navstar plugin from the Samsung Store app. Then customise your gestures.
Why Google has not given the option to keep the old gestures without the AI features. You'd have to ask them

And this is the whole idea behind android - you like buttons? You should use buttons; you like gestures, you should use gestures. The device is yours to customize.

Ah but you see you can use the pancake and disable the ai feature. You can use the buttons and disable the ai feature. But you cannot for some reason use the 3x gestures anymore because it has been replaced with the single pancake. The only thing that actually changed is the 3x gestures have been disabled. To get the functionality that should be handled by the os, you have to download an app. This is comparable to apple experience where you have to download an app so you can arrange your windows ...which is a built in feature thats been in both linux (well, i only used ubuntu, but still) and windows for over a decade.

That's it, I've always used the buttons since iv'e been using any Samsung devices. The swipe option doesn't suit me, so therefore when I updated to Ui6.1 I made sure to stick to the bottons. Swipe option is for lazy people who want to take the storage route.

Not sure what point you are trying to make saying gestures are for lazy people or wdym by 'storage route'?
In any case i like the gestures bacause they dont take up any space and personally i prefer the look and feel. But again this brings me back to the original point - you should be able to make that choice yourself.

Well it's a feature on all new Android phones now and a lot of older ones
It's not something Google is going to change either
AI features will be more integrated with Android.
At least Samsung gives you the option to download a way to customise your navigation features with Goodlock
