I need to use the camera in a quite study area and so want to mute the shutter sound permanently without muting the entire system sound at the same time. I know it was possible on older models. How do I do so on this new model please?

This has been a subject discussed before both here on the forum and elsewhere @Members_SqSXXm2
The feature to turn off the shutter sound can sometimes be region dependent.
However generally there isn't a native setting to turn off the sound due to privacy of others. i.e taking a photo of someone without them being aware.
However as your wanting to take pictures in a “ study area ” where quite I assume must be a necessity them other sounds from your phone i.e incoming texts , calls and notifications
There is the option as you've mentioned to turn the system sounds down.
I'm not sure if there's an app available that would suite your needs either.

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.
