How can I upload SD card data to a S21 + phone?

I have recently purchased a refurbished S21 + phone to replace my S8 + that sadly died.

I have managed to restore most of my data to the S21 from Samsung Cloud. However, there’s a lot of data on the SD card from the S8 that I need to restore to the S21. Unfortunately, the S21 has no SD card slot.

How can I get the data from the SD card onto the S21 phone?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Have you got another phone or tablet with an SD card slot? Have you got a PC with a card slot? Have you got a card reader?

Pop the card in another device and xfer via Bluetooth

Pop the card into a card reader and plug it into a PC. Save files to PC. Xfer files to phone via Bluetooth.

Once the files are on the PC, then you can plug the S21 into it and xfer the files back that way. No need for Bluetooth then.

If you use Chrome browser, and providing you will be using the same account details, then your favourites will still be there when you use Chrome browser app and sign into your account. Same with Microsoft Edge. Browsing history, is also synced across devices as long as they are using the same account and logged in.

Hi again Robin,

As you’ve probably guessed by now, my old S8+ was not economically repairable. (Intermittent Motherboard issues). I’d had it 8 years with the original battery, so can’t complain really.

I have an SD card reader, but neither of our desktop PC’ s has Bluetooth. My wife’s Lenovo Thinkpad may have Bluetooth, but I’ll need to check.

Apart from my photos and videos, I’’d like to recover my Internet ‘Favourites’ and ‘Browsing History’ for my BT internet account. This seems to be on the SD card.

Thanks.,…K

Thanks again, I’ll give that a try. My BT internet account on the PC is accessed via MS Edge. Not sure how the internet was accessed on the S8  though, but used BT Internet.com as my Home Page.

If you experience problems viewing your favourites, then you can use your PC to export your Edge favourites to a file. You can then import the file back into the Edge mobile app. All you'd need to do is xfer the file to your phone using the method mentioned before. Any issues, then just shout out here.

Hi again,

I haven’t got round to sorting out the internet  issues yet. I’ll get round to it eventually.

One other thing I’ve noticed is that only a very small number of my Contacts / Telephone numbers have restored to my new phone. If they were not stored in the Cloud could they be on the SD card or perhaps in the internal storage on the old phone (which I can’t access now)?

Hi, yes it would depend on where those contacts were stored. For instance, all my contacts are stored against my Google account and so available across my devices when my Google account is added to them.

In your case they could be stored in your phone itself, Microsoft, or even in your BT account. It all depends on which accounts you used.

If you tap on any of your contacts, then tap on Storage locations. It will show you where they are stored. May give you an idea of what's missing and why. You would just need to add that account to your phone and hopefully they will sync down.1723382866802_1723382866795_0.jpg

Hi Again,

Managed to get Favourites synced to Edge on the S21. however Browsing History hasn't synced for some reason.
Regarding the Contacts and Telephone Nos, I have a feeling they are in the S8's internal storage. I'll need to find some way of accessing the internal storage on a 'dead" phone.

Browsing history might be exclusive to Google. Remind me again, how dead is your S8?

Did you get a new SIM with the S21? If yes, read on.

If your contacts were stored on your S8 SIM, then you could, in theory, pop the S8 SIM in your S21, and xfer them off the SIM to your phone.
