I'm sure this question has been asked before. My wife has an old S10 plus phone that she wants to give to our son. Problem is she can't remember her pattern on the phone to allow access and the ability to reset. She's now on an S24 and the S10 plus has been lying in the drawer for quite some time. It doesn't appear on her find my device on the Samsung website as it's been deregistered. So we don't know how to actually force an unlock on the device, so we can factory reset it. Can anyone suggest a way around this? As the time just keep getting longer between tries. Thanks in advance John

Boot into recovery mode, press reset.

For how to do that. Turn the phone off. Hold the power button and volume up, release when you see the samsung logo. Using the power buttons to move and power to select, select reset device. Confirm and it should reset.

Of note, if a google account was previously linked to the device, you must login again with that google account. When you force reset a device like this it enables an anti theft mode. So set it up with your wife's original google account, then either remove the google account or reset the phone again the normal way.

Thanks Arian but I can't power it off as it asks for a pattern. Seem to have got ourselves stuck in some sort of loop here. It's at 5 mins between goes now.

Hold the power button and volume down for 10 seconds. Should force a power off

All we want to do is remove or get past the pattern. Then reset the device using the reset function from settings

Try releasing as soon as the screen turns off/you think it shut down. Exactly 10 seconds might be long enough to shut it off then accidentally boot it again

Hi there, try this see if it works

If not try go to Samsung’s experience store (if you have any around you) they should be able to sort the problem as long as you have receipt or any invoice that this device belongs to you.

Gotta love the extra button they added on the s10. Makes getting into the recovery menu even more of a pain
