Home button not working

The home button on my phone has stopped working. The screen has not frozen but the home button does nothing. The back button returns to previous screen as normal but the apps button now needs a longer press to work. I have tried rebooting several times and my phone doesnt need any updates

Sounds like a physical problem with the screen, you may need to get the device repaired.

You can use the Samsung members app to test your touch screen.
