Cant Factory Reset Galaxy S21 Ultra

My S21 Ultra's screen recently broke, and I am trying to factory reset the phone. I have been accessing the phone through a usb c to hdmi adapter and a monitor.

When I go to factory reset the phone, the option to actually factory reset is grayed out until i back up the phone. The problem: I have backed up the phone three times now, using both the samsung cloud and external storage options. The option to factory reset still remains grayed out despite this. I have tried also using the volume up + power button method to access the reset screen and factory reset it that way, but it does not cast to my monitor and I cannot see anything. Any advice on how to fix this would be much appreciated.

I also read it's because you're connected to a monitor.

If you've done a back up, you could erase the phone through SmartThingsFind if you've a Samsung Account? But doing it this way, you'll need to confirm your Google account details (if you're signed in) before you can set the phone up again

You could use recovery mode also by turning phone off and then pressing and holding volume up and power until you see Samsung Logo [about 15 seconds] but I'm not sure if the recovery mode would show when connected via adaptor tbh. Worth a go I guess.

Hi, the phone is not in power saving mode.

This could be down to the fact you're connected to another device.
