Alphabet column (on right side) gone in contacts list

Hi all, just had the latest update, ONE UI 4.0 ANDROID 12, on my Samsung Galaxy S21, and now the alphabet that used to be visible in the contacts list on the right hand side of the phone, going down, is gone now and is replaced with dots so I'm unable to go straight to the letter to find the contact I'm looking for. Does anyone know how I can put it back? please

I know, but that's the same with my S21 ultra but in addition there are the letters. The question was, if there are any news on how to get the letters back.

I thought it was something i had done until i just changed phones. Like for real what the absolute f#%@, why mess with this tool that helps you quickly get to the listing of people you want by hitting the relevant letter in the right hand column. Plus you obviously don't care what your consumers like and want as you have not fixed the issue. Finding customer care has slipped markedly also over the last 12months. What is going on SAMSUNG, do we not matter anymore?

Like... I know in what order is the letters in alphabet, and still can roughly estimate where K or R is, but still it's a step back to remove all letters at once not leaving any customization option!

When I slide it up & down, it jumps all over the place. I start at B & it jumps to L. Such nonsense. Other Samsung owners have complained about this too! I will never buy another Samsung product again!

Hi, I found this annoying, but discovered that as soon as you see the column that now just has dots instead of the alphabet in it, place your finger on it and after a second a letter appears next to it. Without lifting your finger from the screen slide it up or down and the letter changes as you do so. When you get to the letter you want lift your finger. It isn't as quick as just touching the letter you want, but a lot quicker than scrolling through the main list of contacts.
