Please Note: You will need a HDMI cable for this hack. Make sure your gaming monitor and PlayStation 4 are switched off before inserting cables.

Offering fantasy and immersion at just the touch of a controller, the delights of gaming are endless. With this in mind, the last thing you'll want to do is waste time struggling to set up your hardware when you'd rather be racing, flying, strategising or shooting 🎮.

Thankfully, things have come a long way since the SCART leads, VGA cables and adaptors required to connect some older consoles, and setting up your PlayStation 4 couldn't be easier. Whether you're connecting your PS4 to a gaming monitor or a TV, just follow these simple steps to start playing in no time.

How to connect your gaming monitor to a PS4:

  1. Make sure your gaming monitor and PS4 are both turned off
  2. Plug one end of your HDMI cable into the HDMI port on your PS4. Plug the other into a HDMI port on your gaming monitor
  3. With the HDMI cable connected, insert your gaming monitor and PS4 power cables and switch both devices on
  4. Your gaming monitor should detect your PS4 automatically. If it doesn't, you'll need to change the HDMI source
    • If using a Samsung TV, press the JOG button to select Source and find the correct HDMI source
    • If not using a Samsung TV, consult your product manual for the best way to change HDMI source
  5. To customise settings such as Resolution and TV Size, navigate to Settings on the PS4 menu and select Sound and Screen, followed by Video Output Settings
  6. Enjoy gaming with your PS4!
