This has been a recurring issue/bug with Samsung Phones, ie, for some strange reasons even w/o changing the security settings, the phone just lock out and shows the message:

"Your password contains at least 4 characters, including at least 1 letter"

Read similar experiences from other members in the community and it appears samsung has not addressed this at all to the complete satisfaction (ie, not factory reset & completely erase data) of the customer for YEARS already.

Appreciate any working lead from anyone - please be kind not to blame or assume we don't own our phones. Don't be cruel, we're here to ask for help not to read your nonsensical comments. Thank you.

Don't be fooled about the 4 letters  etc  all is required  is your Samsung password  for Samsung  cloud. The r letters  caricature  etc is minimal  requirements. If you have a Samsung  cloud backup,  use that password

I had this happen to me 9/26/24   asking for a password I didn't set  ever  that must   be at least 4  and contain one letter.....   earlier in the day I connected my "outlook" work email to my phone.... for some stupid reason after 45 different passwords I tried my password for my work email and it unlocked the phone.   So give those passwords a try if you didn't ever set one.

Hello, i'm facing the same issue with my S21 Ultra. I installed the last update in September, i was able to log in with Pin and password. However after the first restart last Friday, it was no longer accepting my password and i haven't been able to access my phone since then. Samsung support suggested a factory reset,  but i can't lose my data. Has anyone faced this and was able to solve this issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Out of the blue, this also happened to me. I wont bore you with my mental anguish, but do want to advise on THE SOLUTION that worked for me.

My linked gmail password unlocked the phone, not my samsung account password.

I have not idea why this security setting was engaged as the phone was never set it up for a password.

Hope this is of use .

Try your linked gmail (or alternative linked email) password or your samsung account password.

Hope this is of use, it worked for me and I was able to avoid a factory reset.

Try inputting the password linked to your phone i.e. gmail (or alternative linked email) or possibly your samsung account password.

Hope this is of use, the former worked for me and I was able to avoid a factory reset !

I had the exact same situation!! I left it overnight after Samsung Account support and the Samsung authorized tech store both said the only option was a hard system reset.
The next day I was thinking about any phone updates or new apps I had downloaded that week and realised there was a new Authenticator App I downloaded in a workplace (possibly for Microsoft/Asana) and had a completely different password for it. I wasn't expecting this app to completely take over my phone access, at the most just take over the access of this new app - However! Yes, I had the same prompt everyone is mentioning and fortunately tried the password I made 5 days prior (as the last hope before a hard reset) - AND IT WORKED! What a relief after being told various different things from Samsung Service Support and a tech store.

Conclusion to anyone reading: Check if you have downloaded any Work Portal App or any Authenticator App recently. Try using that password - even if it isn't connected to any other Samsung or phone password you may have previous made when setting up your phone or Google or whatever accounts some time ago.
