Why doesn't Smart View work over VPN?

Hi folks,

I am trying to connect my Tab A to my Samsung Smart TV using Smart View for casting tablet contents, but it won't allow me to connect while I'm using a VPN on the tablet. Why on earth not please?!

It just disconnects "because I'm using a VPN on my tablet".

Any solutions please to get around this issue.
(I want to continue using VPN.)

Here's something to think about.  Smart view won't connect because of the vpn issue but you can still be on the vpn and cast to that same tv!  It's a smart view issue, not a vpn issue.

You are speaking generically about vpn issues.   That is not the issue with smart view.   Vpn configurations allow you to setup bypassing of certain apps or communication.   Smart view does not work even after configuring everything necessary for it to talk to the local network.   The problem is that smart view is written in a unique way to prevent the use of bypassing.   Smart view is poorly written is the bottom line issue.
