Hi, the recent update has stopped me being able to move/copy whatsapp photos to the Samsung Secure Folder. I have no problems with normal gallery photos and until the last Samsung update no issues from the WhatsApp Folder.
If I can move/copy photos from WhatsApp folders into other gallery folders I can then transfer them into the Secure folder...its very annoying. Do I need to change a setting or is this just the way it is now?
I am using an S20

Not claiming to know what exactly is going on, but to me it looks like this isn't an issue but a security feature to protect your files. Remember a remote user has the ability to delete files on your device, if they sent the files to you in the first place. That means whatsapp has read/write permissions to that file, and if you moved the file to your secure folder then that may mean whatsapp would have brief access to your secure folder if the permissions were maintained. That would inherently mean files in secure folder are open to being read/modified by a 3rd party app. In my view that is why you can not move those images to secure folder directly from the whatsapp folder. But if you move them to a different folder first they inherit the permissions of that folder, then you're able to move them to secure folder. I don't think this is a coding issue with Samsung or an issue they are looking to fix, on the contrary it appears its by design.

Hi, I faced this problem too. All you need is just moving your files first into one of your device location folders like for ex. DCIM abd then move them to the secure folder. It worked for me😉. Unfortunally there are some problems like this after whatsapp updates. It is not our device problem😊. For example the whatsapp filder remains "invidible" EVEN after choosing the visibility for hidden folders.
I hope to be clear and useful .

Almost a year and no valid solution!!
Who says this is for security; a user is not directing whatsapp to download in his/her secure folder! A user is moving images and videos from local folders on his device and not through internet.
Not solving such an issue since Jan-2022 is a complete disgrace.

Open internal storage in files app. Create new folder , call it folder 1 for example. Open the WhatsApp media folder and move images etc into newly created folder 1.
Now open secure folder and use the add files option and navigate to folder 1. You can now copy or move anything in this folder to secure folder.

If it's any consolation, we're approaching January of 2025 and Samsung STILL don't have their ***** together. Talk about programmers not giving a proverbial *****. Sheesh.

Good morning dude! So this is COMPLETELY normal, and this "problem" is because of the WhatsApp function. That's because when you download the media on your phone, they automatically will download into the WhatsApp media folder. So, then when you remove them from that folder, WhatsApp will not able to find and recognize them anymore. If you want and the capacity of you phone is sufficient, then the best option is to "COPY" them into another folder. Hope it helps you. This problem is not the problem of your device, it's WhatsApp behavior which we are having about many years... not only even telegram is like that 😉 so take care, wish you a great day.
