Use external hrm strap with Samsung health

I hate a polar heart rate strap which is registered in s health as an accessory. How do I make the app (or my watch Ultra) use the polar strap heart data instead of the watch sensor data? For activities like rowing the watch heart rate data is absolute rubbish.

Also, how do I manually start a workout on the s health app on my phone, such as a rowing session? That way I can disconnect the watch and hopefully use the chest strap, except I cannot find a way to manually start an exercise on the phone.

The first question you asked is how to get samsung us the polar watch strap for heart rate data instead of the watch?

The simple answer is.. you can't. If you are wearing a watch, this is the data samsung Health uses. I know because I've come across the same issue.

To start an exercise manually, go to the home page of samsung health, find My exercises and choose the exercise you want and on the bottom of the screen press start IF my exercises tab is not on your home screen, select the 3 dots on the top right, select the + symbol and add My Exercises to your home page. Then, select the exercise you want.

Thanks, I had somehow hidden the exercises tab but managed to add it again, and disconnecting my watch manually allows me to use the strap fine. Thanks!

I had never thought of disconnecting my watch to use the strap. I've learned something today too!!
