Tidal mobile app

I use the above app virtually every day for streaming music via Bluetooth through my s21 ultra to my Sony wf-1000xm5 earbuds. Until yesterday I have always been able to view the bitrate on the now playing page, but this disappeared overnight and now it just shows ‘good’ or ‘max’. So far I have tried restarting my phone and deleting/reinstalling the Tidal app, but still no bitrate showing. Tidal themselves say they cannot explain why this has happened or offer any solution. Anyone here have any ideas please?

Short answer its all a con and Tidal post MQA try not to say most of the catalog is a mixed bag, the live bit rate went sometime ago for me.

Personally I have Spotify, Tidal subs, but my hires daily driver is Qobuz.

Anyway moot point Samsung SSC codec means you never get proper HiRes only lossy so dont stress.1772200569773.jpg

To add even if the bit rate used to show in Tidal, the device was never capable of lossless.

If you want proper Lossless you need dongle and proper hires buds, I tested most and ended up with Creative Labs Aurvana Ace2 and the BTW6, but sadly you loose microphone call and other such functions.

Thanks. Yes I do understand that ldac is not truly lossless, but just wondered why I could no longer view the bitrate as I’ve always been able to prior to yesterday.

Sorry forgot your using Sony buds, either way regardless of what they said it is Tidal restrictions, they dropped it around December 2025, I know because on my home streaming system it went, so I reverted back to my streamer app.

A mention here but that delete and reinstall, clear data might work, thought a pain, but as stated its a Tidal move, my suspicion is the entity the floated off with MQA will use this as a snob point the get MQA going again.

PS I did like MQA with a full unfold.

Thanks again, but as stated I was always able to view the bitrate right up until yesterday. I use the Tidal app virtually every day.

Thought you might be interested to see that this evening I now have the bitrate displaying as normal. No idea why as I’ve made no changes to any settings, it just came back!IMG_1497.jpeg
