S21 Ultra. Two requests for OneUI 7 please:

1) Restore option for horizontal apps sliding pages that automatically put apps in alphabetical order

2) Add option to move the search bar back to the top

So, this UI7 update sucks. For starters, my phone theme used to be a nice, cool grey that actually matched my phone. Now it is super harsh on the background and is, in general, an eyesore. The apps on my home screen are smaller. I assumed this was because an extra row was added to add more widgets to your homescreen. I was VERY wrong. It says they edited the home screen to keep things symmetrical but instead they made it feel like everything on my homescreen is just ugly and way too small for the size of the actual screen. On top of that, you moved things around and included no way to actually make it functional for the user. So now, every time I move to press my home button, I accidentally hit the search bar and end up straining my hand more. Because jokes on you my hands are not very big, despite being a 24 year old woman, and this update has made this phone a nightmare to use. The only thing I genuinely do not mind about this update is the way the viewing tabs works. I miss when my phone was pretty, functional, and customizable TO MY PREFERENCES. That is why I prefer samsung over iPhone. But I hate this more than I would hate switching to an iPhone right now.

I 100% agree! I'm in tears right now because I've lost so much customizability and functionality on my phone with this update and there's no way to go back. I am constantly defending and (low-key) bragging about my phone and how efficient and customizable it is. I can't do that anymore. If I wanted an iPhone I WOULD HAVE BOUGHT AN iPHONE. The home screen is ugly, as is the notifications panel, I want to move the search bar out of my GODDAMNED way, I am so angry right now

Provide the option to move the app search bar back to the top of the screen, and provide the option to make the quick access buttons at least split with notifications on the pull down menu again, as opposed to having to swipe the notifications to the side to get to them. Very easily implemented customizability that would be a large quality of life improvement for many users.

Good news, @sidereus! If your prefer the old style of having your notifications and Quick Settings together, that's absolutely possible. All you need to do is swipe down on the right hand side > Tap the Pencil icon > Panel Settings > Notification and Quick Settings View > Together.

I'm a satisfied user of Samsung devices and appreciate the fundamental features of the Samsung Health App. However, with up and coming innovations like the Samsung Ring and advancements in AI (including on-device AI), I believe there's enormous untapped potential.
Samsung is uniquely positioned to leverage its ecosystem and integrate services—many of which I already use or am interested in—into a cohesive and powerful user experience. Such integrations would significantly enhance user retention.

I, and likely many others, would willingly pay a premium (e.g., via subscription) for these advanced, integrated features. In many cases, even seamless integration of existing third-party apps would be a significant step forward.
While standalone apps offering similar functionalities often have their own costs, they lack the deep integration and unified experience Samsung could provide.

Feature: Smart Alarm (like Sleep as Android)
Description: It tracks your sleep to find the optimal moment for your wake up. You set an alarm as always, but you also define a timeframe where it is allowed to wake you up if you seem to be in light sleep and are ready to be woken. Especially cool if paired with the ring. To use less battery, it could only sync the data more often in the selected timeframe. They also provide an API and help to integrate your own products if a collab would be on the table. They just can't access your devices data in a good way to better integrate it themself (Watch works, but Ring would be so much better).

Feature: Symptom Radar (like Oura)
Description: Analyses your data to find early signs of strain or sickness and it will inform you about it's findings and how you should adapt if possible.

Feature: Resilience (like Oura)
Description: Analyses your long-term data to give an indicator about your resilience and how it evolves.

Feature: Habit Helper
Description: Define Goals / KPI's to track (like calory goals, weight tracking, workouts). If you don't follow your set to do's or goals, it should remind you. The more you fail, the more intrusive it should get (like a wait time before unlocking your smartphone while your lovely AI Assistant motivates you). Just allow to set different types of intrusiveness and how fast it should get "worse" :smiling-face: You could also highly orient yourself on the Forfeit App with needed verification of your goals that will get tracked by AI (AI checks your data / forces you to submit an image and so on) - optional also with a monetary punishment if failing.

Feature: User defined Tracking Sessions with more detailed data collection
Description: Allow to track specific timeframes or situations without using a workout. For example in case someone wants to track health information in a specific situation, when taking medication, doing a special work task, a social situation or whatever. Show graphs and details values afterwards to give the user the chance to efficiently work with that data. It could also show something like "In this timeframe your heart rate was increased by X over your regular data". And if you are scared about people complaining about battery life if this is used often... make a big fat warning.

Feature: Timeframe Tagging
Description: Doesn't change the data collection itself, but gives you more detailed possbilitys to compare data in differently tagged timeframes. For example I could tag 09am - 5pm as "Homeoffice" or "Working onsite" and compare my stress levels and other data when interested. Can also help to remind wtf I did a few days/weeks ago when taking a look later.

Feature: Diary
Description: Could also be comined with Timeframe Tagging. Just a way to keep track of something like dreams or thoughts. Could easily be connected with apps like Samsung Notes and AI Stuff to make it easy. Samsung Brief reminds you to do it and so on.

Feature: Automated VR Workout tracking via Meta Horizon Integration (or at least with Google XR in the upcoming headset?)
Description: Allows the automatic start/stop of workout tracking while using VR / specific Apps. Optimally optional and with added infromation like which app you played. That would allow to easily see something like "oh yeah, in FitXR my heart rate is pumping while App XY looks ineffective in comparison if it comes down to calory burn" - a reminder to wear a tracking device if not used already would also be great.

Feature: Fitness Benchmark
Description: Allows easy to use benchmark exercises to track progress. Depending on own preferences, fitness levels and abilities, maybe provide different solutions but with a few default settings that are recommended.

Feature: Samsung Smart Things - Local Mode
Description: Pair with Gateway / existing Home Asisstant without cloud services, local only.

Improvement: Food Tracking with Barcode Scanning / AI Image analysis to make it a worthy competitor to Yazio or My Fitness Pal

Improvement: Show more detail on heart rate and other sensor data when tracking workouts (and also show the collected information if the workout gets added afterwards)

Improvement: Allow to edit workout start / end without loosing all data (for example in case you missed to turn it off)

Improvement: Allow to adjust the daily calorie goals according to your burned calories with workouts / movement.

Improvement: Dedicated shopping list that can be used via Gemini, probably integrated in samsung reminder or notes

Kind regards,

Simon

Oneui 7 is literally the worst upgrade to any device i ever made. I am super irritated. I am going to put the fold 5 in a drawer for now and use my iPhone as daily driver because this is stupid, the main reason i preferred samsung was customizability. Youve added a bunch of phone home features and ai ***** i dont want or need and no abilitu to turn it off. You also put the app search bar in the wrong place and just made the whole phone like *****. The new battery indicator is also horrendous. Why do you "fix" stuff that wasn't broken just to ***** off your loyal customerbase
