Secure folder encrypt

I was under the impression secure folder was already encrypted but I've just noticed in the menu of secure folder 'encrypt'.

What's happening here? I even thought the phone was encrypted?

Is nothing encrypted?

Encryption is a separate additional security option that is not by default. You can activate it in the settings
But be warned, if you lose the encryption key, you lose all data as you cannot restore it or decrypt it

What do you mean by encryption key? The password you use to access the secure folder?

The enhanced Data protection method  encrypts personal information when it is stored in Samsung Cloud.   A 28 character Recovery code is generated that you can use to recover Encrypted Data.  More information here https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/Enhanced Data Protection

I don't think I am using samsung cloud. This was just a questions regarding secure folder and encryption unless they are linked somehow. Thanks
