Barcodes generated by the Samsung Wallet Membership cards are in an odd format and do not work, - does anybody know a fix?

The first picture below is from the original membership card.

The second picture is the barcode generated by Samsung Wallet, when I manually entered the 13 digit membership number. As you can see the membership number is the same but the barcode is very different, - and it does not work at the membership place.

The last picture is of a barcode generated by an online barcode generator. I selected the usual EAN-13 format and entered the 13 digit membership number. As you can see this is is identical to the barcode on the original card.

It seems Samsung Wallet is not generating barcodes in the normal EAN-13 format, - but some other odd format?

I do like the app and it would be very handy if it also could keep my membership cards easy available.
Several other members have noticed this problem, - but has anybody found a fix?

Hi! Welcome to the samsung members community!

The barcodes should still work no? Have you attempted scanning them at said memberships?

I have quite a few- and though they appear to he a tad different they still work. Unless youre saying they dont work?

You’re absolutely right — Samsung Wallet sometimes generates barcodes using a generic Code 128 format instead of the actual EAN-13 format, even if the number looks the same. This mismatch causes scanners (especially at retail stores) to reject or misread the barcode.

Possible Fixes:

Try using the Stocard app or Google Wallet just for that specific card — they often let you pick EAN-13 as the format manually.

If you want to keep using Samsung Wallet, you can try contacting their support through the app and send the barcode comparison. They sometimes fix format issues for specific card types.

It’s super annoying, especially when the number is correct but the format messes things up. Hope Samsung lets us choose barcode formats in the future!

Hi Johnz237,

The barcodes generated by the Samsung Wallet for membership cards do not work.
I have tested several different barcodes at several different shops.

Hi TechSupportPro,

Stocard is not around anymore, it's been bought and sucked up by Klarna. I have some cards imported from Stocard to Samsung Wallet, - and they work.

I have tried to bring this matter to Samsung support, - but I only get directed around around until I give up.
