Samsung spellcheck overriding Gboard

The Samsung Keyboard spellcheck settings keep overriding my preference of Gboard for spelling correction, even while I am using Gboard as my default keyboard. 

I can't disable the Samsung features, which seems to be the only suggestion I've found using Google. 

I just want the Google spellcheck to stay and the Samsung spellcheck to stop overriding my choice.

Had same issue with my S21. Don't know if it will work for you but I found that my problem was related to the secure folder. I had gboard on the phone but not in the secure folder. Once I had it both folders as the default keyboard and Google spell check enabled, it stopped being overridden. I have now deleted the secure folder altogether and had no further problems. I both can and can't believe this actually worked. Thanks for that. It's so dumb that a secure folder should be causing this problem for users.
