Samsung Pay not working anywhere except TFL

Hi,

I used to use Google Pay for my travel in London, but it recently stopped working so I switched to Samsung Pay. I've added two cards (both debit, different banks) , one of which I made a 'Transport Card' and it works perfectly. 

However, it doesn't work in any shop. Not one. I get a message saying 'close app or turn of screen to use' but nothing happens. This is the same with either card. The only place Samsung Wallet works is on TFL. 

Ideally I'd like to use it for everything, so has anyone got any suggestions?

Do you launch Samsung pay to use in the shops? On my watch I don't need to press any button when using tfl, only tap on the oyster reader but in a shop I have to launch Samsung pay with the button then hold it to the credit card reader in shops.

Hi.

Have the same card, which works for both.

1. For tfl, I just have to touch it without unlocking the phone as long as the screen is kinda ON.

For payments at shops I need to open Samsung wallet and do it there.

Bear in mind though in samsung wallet my card is linked with curve as that was the only way to link my card.

Thanks for your replies. Yes, I'm the same on TFL, it works without me having to unlock my phone. In shops, I have tried both ways. If the phone is unlocked, nothing happens. But if I open Samsung Wallet, I get the error message "close app or turn off screen".
My main card is also li ked with Curve as my bank doesnt work with Samsung Pay.
