A number of people have been complaining about the battery indicator since the launch of One UI 7. Instead of simply showing the battery percentage as numbers, Samsung replaced it with a pill-shaped battery icon. We can only choose whether to display the percentage inside that shape or not.
When enabled, the numbers are hard to read, and many users have asked for the option to display the percentage as plain numbers again. I was really hoping that One UI 8 would finally bring that option, but unfortunately I can confirm, it hasn’t.
This is disappointing, to say the least.
And I'm wondering: why? How difficult can it be for a company like Samsung to give users that simple choice? Even if most people don’t mind, a significant number clearly do, and for good reason. It’s fair to say that plain numbers are more legible than numbers (also smaller?) inside a colored shape.
