Samsung Keyboard app : glitch / bug when editing typing - cursor jumps and extra letters appear inserted in random places.

My current version of Samsung Keyboard  app on my Samsung phone: 3.3.21.22

It is easiest for me to describe this issue using a real example, so here we go:

When I am typing using the Samsung Keyboard app, for example I was typing:

"Hello! Hope you're magic show"

and then realised I wrote the wrong your/you're, so I moved the cursor to edit it. I deleted the 're and retyped the r but then The Glitch (yes, it deserves the capitals) happened and this is what shows up:

"Hello! Hope ymagyouricshow" with the cursor waiting there at the end, after the the w.

The Glitch has moved the word into the middle of another word, removed the spaces and added a duplicate of the first letter of the word I was editing to the start of the new composite word and moved the cursor to the end. Makes it a bit difficult to communicate.

The Glitch happens to me often, I have been putting up with it for... years. Thought it was a bug that would be fixed.

Has anyone else experienced The Glitch? Why is this happening? How can I stop it from happening?

Thank-you for reading!

It's because it's a piece of garbage. Reference source: first-hand experience.

Hmm, yeah, sorry, but it is. The crummy thing doesn't even have an audio jack I found out after buying it, so I guess I can forget listening to any music at work.

I noticed that there are 6 pages of responses to the post that you started in 2020. I don't know if any of the responses have solved your problem. But I think I do.

What you're facing is not a glitch. It's a design problem that is related to where the touchpad is placed on your keyboard. I first noticed it when I was using my Macbook. It has a giant trackpad, and I had the same problems as you described. I soon discovered it was simple cause. To understand this more, you need to take note of two things in your text input space. The cursor, which is where new text will be inserted. And the mouse pointer, which is where the cursor will be located when the mouse is clicked. What is happening is that when you type, your palm(s) might come into contact with the trackpad. When this happens the cursor is instantly shifted to where the mouse pointer is. This can sometimes cause text to be inserted in the wrong place or worse still entire chunks of text to be deleted. I also notice that this is happening when I use my Samsung keyboard cover with my Galaxy Tab S9+.

There are two solutions. Change your typing style so that your palms are elevated from the keyboard. In other words, try not to rest your palms on the keyboard as you type. The other solution is to deactivate your trackpad as you type and make use of an external device like a bluetooth mouse.

I hope this helps.
