My son is using my old phone to play Fortnite. I have a new Samsung and use my phone to play with him.

I've recently signed up to the monthly subscription and went to do the same for him but it won't let me and says I've already purchased it.

Any idea how I can update in app purchase or change the account info on his mobile so it recognises they are different devices?

I looked on Fortnite's website but they said it's a Samsung issue!

@Sianygirl3: If your son is using your old phone, then I recommend checking the Google and Samsung accounts that are registered to the device, as it is likely that they are the same ones that you have added to your personal device. If you downloaded Fortnite from the Google Play Store, for instance, you may need to set up a personal Google account for your son, although please be aware that he must be 13 or older in order for this to be achievable, due to Googles terms and conditions.

If you're unsure how to remove and add accounts on your son's device, then please confirm the model number and current Android version (located in Settings > About phone), and I will be able to assist you further.

As andrew mentioned above, you should link a new account to your sons device as when purchasing on the same account it just registers it as a previously bought purchase. You can add yourself as a family manager for your sons account if you need to via google family link or other apps.
