The way notification badges disappear after
clearing the notification panel has been an
ongoing issue with Samsung devices, even
back in the Samsung Experience days, and
iť's still there in One UI. Right now, if I swipe
away a notification, the badge on the app
icon disappears too, even if I haven't read or
dealt with it yet.

This gets really frustrating, especially if I accidentally clear a notification.Once it’s gone, there’s no easy way to know if I missed something important unless I open every single app to check manually. It kind of defeats the whole purpose of having notification badges in the first place, doesn’t it? They’re supposed to remind us about what still needs attention.

It’s a small issue, sure, but it’s one of those little things that adds up and makes the experience less smooth.I really hope this gets fixed in the next future Update.

Hello there

In short. You need the badge that shows the number of notifications on the app icon to stay after you clear the notification from the quick panel. Correct?

Yes, exactly...

I don't think that's possible. The settings don't allow that.
Once the notification is removed from the notification panel, the badge also disappears from the top right corner of the app. They are interconnected and can not be separated at the moment

@Hlnaveen : All I can suggest is that you avoid clearing your notification panel, and this will leave the app icon badge in place. At the moment, the system believes that you have been notified of the messages via the notification panel, therefore the icon badge is no longer required if the notifications have been manually cleared. I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause you.

If you do accidentally clear your notifications, then please head to Settings > Notifications > Advanced settings > Notification history, and they will be visible here.

Thanks Andrew, I see that this "issue" has been a subject on the Community Forum numerous times in the past three years.

Do you know by any chance if this is ever going to be resolved by giving user a choice if they want the badge to show the count of notifications from the tray versus the actual count of unread notifications from the app?
