This isn't a problem that needs resolving, I just want to let people know that the theft protection feature by google is a bit buggy. I tested it first of all a couple of weeks back but it didn't work, it didn't lock when snatched and ran off with. But today I was stood there just doing what I normally do with my phone and it locked 🔒 for no reason. I know it's only just been released but come on Google, seriously.

I've tested this feature multiple times with different scenarios like locked phone, unlocked phone, phone in pocket you name it, my results were almost same, I found out that it works like 40-65% of the time got mine locked for no reason when scrolling through instagram as well, but happened just once or twice.

Can't take Google security as fool proof, risk getting locked out of your phone if you did take it seriously.

Out of interest, what phone do you have? Eg, I have an s22 and haven't had a single false trigger of theft lock yet. It could just be some devices aren't calibrated correctly for it

Thanks for that. I have it enabled on my S23 when it was added on the Google play system update. Haven't had any issues with it.
