Google messages not being received

I have the Samsung Galaxy 24 Ultra which is not the problem. It's the google messages that I am trying to use for texts. Verizon will no longer be offering the text message plus or regular text message apps so am kinda being forced into using google messages. Most texts are being received to the people I am sending them too but there are a couple (including my husband) that are not getting my messages. Any advice?
