How do I set certain bypass when my phone is on vibrate or silent. I would like to have certain contacts ring no matter what setting my phone is on

Well, it's not pretty but it worked.....
I had to add a mode that was "Max volume" and then create the routine to activate that mode when a call comes in from my 'emergency' contacts.
Thanks for finding this.....

Last night (May 7, 2024) I unwittingly left my S24 Ultra phone on the silent mode. While asleep tornados were sighted in my area. I did not get notifications either from the enabled emergency notifications nor calls from my son (who is in my favorites contacts list). From all the comments I am reading, with my phone incapabilities, I am screwed if there is an emergency and I forgot to change my phone silent to sound. There seems to be no fix to this and it is simply NOT safe.

I found a work around for this. It's not ideal but it's ok. With routines you can set your phone to turn the call volume up with certain contacts and then you can set up another routine that turns your phone back to silent during a call from those same contacts. So this would essentially turn up the volume when those contacts call and then turn it back to silent as soon as you answer. The downside to this is if you miss the call then the volume would stay up. Maybe you could figure out another routine that would make it go back to silent even if you miss the call but this is the best I could figure out.

Has Apple patented this setting? July 2024 and there's no any way to get my wife's phone ringing in the same way emergency by pass on Apple does it.

Update... actualy on your phone you need to set up the alarm calls in 2 places on your samsung phone firstly in the procedures in case the phone is in the silent mode (as described in the above post) and Secondly setup the favorite list, and in the DND (do not disturb) allow the favorite list to call you. I think that this should be easer like in the contact list you could just set up emergency in contacts, that could call you no mater the setting on your phone in certain hours like night or whole day however you set it up. Shame on you samsung I have Ultra phone which cost me a lot and I just been to an emergency situation and it just didnt work (i didn't have those settings on) you never know that this could be an issue as long as you dont live it. This setting is very simple to set up as an update to the phone.

I'm a nurse & look after several members of my community when Im not in work. As most of my family live on the other side of the planet however and are very active online, I keep my phone on silent while I'm trying to sleep. I'd love for a solution to this issue. My neighbours rely on me to assist if there's an emergency & I really want be reachable by my family too if needed.
If not (as much as I have loved all my Samsungs) I'm going to have to switch to Apple.
