Just read someone's post about chat features not working in Samsung messages. A moderator put this at the end of the reply.
In regard to the chat features this has been removed on the latest versions of the Samsung Messages app. In order to use this you will need to use Google Messages.
Mine is still working at the moment. Not too happy about it if it's true. I prefer Samsung messages and use chat feature's.😔 Really hope it's false info. Anyone else heard they were doing away with chat in Samsung messages.

Hi, have you searched for rich communications in the settings, make sure it's toggled on, also make sure you've activated the Google account via, this option.
https://www.sammobile.com/news/samsung-one-ui-tip-enable-rich-communications-rcs-for-messages/#:~:te....

Also make sure to sign in via Google in the settings menu, these are things that helped me.
I know it's the same Google account but make sure both have been activated also with toggling on the rich communications settings helped me.Screenshot_20230314_183711_One UI Home.jpgScreenshot_20230314_183948_One UI Home_1000001625_1678819188.jpgScreenshot_20230314_184523_Settings.jpgScreenshot_20230314_184030_Google Play services.jpg

Enable Samsung messages RCS by opening the Settings app on your Galaxy phone. Then, access “Connections” and go to “More connection settings.” In this menu, tap the “Rich Communications” toggle ON to enable RCS messaging on your Samsung device.
Hope this helps.

Yeah, I can use the chat feature on Google just fine, but like yourself, soon as I make Samsung Message my default, I can no longer use the chat feature

It doesn't matter if the phone is unlocked or not. Rich communications will work on both. My s23 ultra is unlocked. What it could be down to is your network. Not all networks support rcs in Samsung messages. Which is why some people have to use Google message to use the feature. If you do not have rich communications showing in connections > more connections settings, then it's down to your network most likely doesn't support it. You can use Google messages, as it works on any network. You could contact your network provider and ask, maybe something they need to do there end to activate. I know giff gaff is one that doesn't support rcs in Samsung messages.
