Washer pausing mid cycle, not spinning WW12K8412OW/EU Error 3C2

I've had this Ecobubble VRT 12Kg for just over 5 years, it was a care plan replacement of a previous faulty Samsung Washer we had. John Lewis had to upgrade us to 12Kg as there wasn't a comparative 10Kg model at the time. The RRP for this model was £1200! It should last more than 5 years.

I paid Currys £119 to have their engineers try to repair it, they were able to replace the main control board and test the motor, they wanted to try replacing the button panel and control board again but as the parts are so expensive they have just cancelled and refunded me. While they were here they also tested the majority of the wiring harness, and didn't find any damage.

The first symptom was the washer pausing mid cycle, adding time onto the cycle each time, so the cycle never completes. After trying calibration and a few other things, it threw up a 3C2 error which is a motor fault, but like I say the motor has been confirmed working by Currys.

This model is belt driven, and I can't locate any suspect sensors that might be causing the motor issue, so my only thought is that it must still be a PCB issue and Currys were correct that the button panel should be replaced at the same time as the main control board so that one can't cause a fault in the other.

If anyone has any other ideas, I'd love to hear them. I don't really want to send £1200 to the scrapheap over a £50 part. I've included a photo inside the rear panel in case someone knows of a sensor that can cause 3C2 on this model.

Thanks.

There is an open socket inside the top panel, but I was pretty sure only Samsung have the tool to plug into it. Are the HASS devices available for rent anywhere?

I dont know, very good question though. I wonder?

i bet they only sell/give them to official Samsung repair engineers though. I think the HASS equipment works across the range of Samsung appliances so works on loads of other samsung items with the HASS socket fitted like fridges and freezers etc .

I have the same issue with the same mashine, which is now 5' years old. Any ideas how to solve it?

The motor is not rotating during any program or during calibration

Feel like an expert on this issue now!

3C2 means there’s an issue somewhere between the motor and the PCB.

The motors are solid, and covered by a 10 year guarantee (not including labour), so it’s likely to be a loose connection/broken wire/dead PCB.

The main PCB for this model is underneath the drum on the left hand side.

My best advice if yours is outside of the 5 year warranty is to get an engineer out to swap out the PCB and test the wiring, and cross your fingers.

It didn’t solve ours, but I’ve been told by basically every engineer that has touched this model that it’s always the PCB.

After a while Samsung eventually replaced our whole machine under the consumer goods act, as the motor had been replaced within the first 12 months of delivery, making it “inherently faulty”. This took months of emails and phone calls, being told no repeatedly, the customer service is dreadful.

If yours has had a previous repair, you could have a go with the retailer for a CRA claim.

If you’re in the UK, you could give Currys a go at fixing it within their £120 no fix no fee repair service, it includes parts up to £250 I think. You don’t need to have bought it from them and there’s no other charges.

Good luck!

Having exactly the same problem with our WW10M86DQOO washing machine with twin motors. The motors are both perfect and as new. They are identical motors so I swapped them just to make sure that they work properly. The motor control board also appears to be good. The motor as well as the drum turns freely with the belt removed but the 3C2 error code comes up when in test mode. In wash cycle it just keeps restarting the cycle. There is no tachometer on the motors but I haven't been able to find one on the drum either. I am suspecting that it might be the problem but where is it? Samsung wants us to pay for everything as it is out of warranty.

thats terrible isnt it and i would say that model was not cheap to buy either that one.

I think you will find (but i could be wrong) that inverter brush motors do not have tacho's on them , only brush type washing machine motors do on the rear of the motor
