I’ve had this washing machine for some months now and have been using the cottons cycle as it holds the maximum weight however, recently it has been increasing the cycle length after about 20 minutes into the cycle? It says it should be 1:27 but after 20 mins it increases to over 3 hours!! It’s never done this before and I’m confused if its normal or not as my loads are typically the same fabrics and weights etc.

I have experienced this too and generally use the same program as you and for the same reason. I believe the time increase is due to the weight of the load and temperature selected as I have seen this on a 60c towels wash. I believe the time you initially see on the display is for a half load and then the machine does weight sensing for a couple of minutes when you hit start, after which the time adjusts up, down or stays the same. I have seen three hours myself but it was at the beginning of the cycle, so I just cancelled it and chose another program.
If you still experience this issue, apart from calling Samsung technical to arrange a service visit, I can recommend the Cloudy Day program as this too is a 9kg load. Unlike Cottons, it doesn't use the weight sensor, so you get a fixed amount of water and detergent (if an auto dose model) and no nasty increases in time - what you see on the display is fixed. I use cloudy day for 60c towel washes as the time is fixed at under 2 hrs, regardless of load and temperature.
Another option without weight sensing is Super Speed 59, which will do a maximum of 5kg in 59 minutes. Not quite 9kg but 5kg is still a decent amount of washing.
Hope some of the above helps.

Good ideas there. I have had our machine for over 2 years now and have never ever tried the cloudy day wash cycle. -Ours is WW90T534 so no Super Speed 59' cycle on ours. - A lot of the time for 40'c and 60'c washes we use 'mixed' but that does weigh the washes at the beginning.

I just tried 'Cloudy Day' for first time ever on our WW90T534 - it still weighed/sensed the wash at the beginning on ours
