Hi all,
Our ice machine on 14 year old RSG5UCRS stopped working. I (unsuccessfully) defrosted it twice using the usual instructions of using a hair drier against it and what I notice is that:
- Ice seems to be forming which I base upon the fact that there are pieces of ice that 'jump out' from the ice maker once I blow hot air into it
- few minutes into defrosting, it appears it starts the test cycle (as those 'white spikes' that push out ice inside the ice machine start moving)
- test cycle, as said, while it does that 'confirming' sound, does not push out anything until I defrost.
So it's as if me defrosting the ice box lets it complete its test cycle but something in it gets frozen yet again.
I'm contemplating buying a spare ice box and replacing myself as that seems to be fairly straightforward thing to do but before I do so, I'd like to hear if anyone had a similar experience or has a different view/solution.
Obviously, fridge is out of warranty so I'm not keen on paying out-of-warranty call out to be told that repair would cost a lot more than new fridge/freezer.
Thanks in advance.

Solved by replacing ice machine. Still similar output of diagnostic as above.

Found in the mean time this diagnostic mode and if I understand it correctly, it thinks ice bucket is full. Would replacing ice maker fix that? Is the sensor the actual plastic handle or what is it?
