Phones have gradually replaced so many standalone devices we used to rely on, so why not take over our handheld gaming. Razer made waves in late 2017 and Asus' ROG branch joined in in 2018, with offers following from a Xiaomi-backed Black Shark and ZTE's nubia. Those have gaming-centric features and often sport a certain gaming aesthetic that may not be to everyone's taste, but there are also some mainstream phones that can do better for gaming than others. What's the best there is right now?

Maybe the new Lenovo Legion Phone and Tablet? I don't really think they offer anything more than maybe a higher screen refresh rate though and a gamer aesthetic applied to a flagship Snapdragon Android phone. As long as your phone has a decent enough chipset you aren't really missing out on anything here. The S22 has both a 120Hz screen and enough grunt to keep up with those gamer specific phones. Just get something that's an all-rounder instead rather than wasting money on something niche
