So. I have a concern . Yes its the first.

My zflip6 gets quiet hot during video call on WhatsApp on WiFi.
The fun thing is it's quiet hot on the top portion where the cameras are
While the bottom part is cool.

I then worry that it might melt my screen and try to keep the calls short as possible.

Couple of things.
1. It hasn't shutdown on me due to heating
( I also keep the calls short)

2. I am not using a case on it so maybe that's why I might feel the heat more.

3. Possibly WhatsApp or the zflip6 is not optimised.

Any seasoned members or users having the same issue with video calls who have flip phones?

Ps : I am aware video calls use a lot of resources and the zflip6 being a slim.phone it could be one of the reasons.
Just want to know if it's a common accourance.
Thank you.

Definitely seems to be common with this snapdragon chip - it runs hot - likely why the vapor chamber and cooling was increased. Whilst it can be uncomfortable, it's worth mentioning that arguably, the cooling is doing its job by taking the heat away from the chip and dispersing it towards the back of the phone.

This year's models all seem to run hot, especially to begin with, then they seem to settle a bit (based on my own experience and the many threads on similar subjects)

I have a case on my s24 ultra, so only feel it get warm.

With the ZFlip6 because it's very slim with a bendy screen I get paranoid it may melt or something with the heat.

If it is genuinely overheating (as opposed to simply feeling hot) it will start reducing performance and turning down various settings, and finally even shutting down...

Until then...I think it's just dispersing heat

I mean so far that's the only time I have seen it heating like crazy. Otherwise it might just get a bit warm.

I just waited to see if the August update would fix it.
Will see how it goes.
This is my first flip so learning and experiencing it as I go along.
I am.more used to the ultras.
This I am newbie πŸ‘Ά

My thoughts are that if the phone isn't showing a pop up warning then all is cool πŸ˜‰ with the phone @GoanGeek

Daily Driver > Samsung Galaxy s²⁡ Ultra 512Gb ~ Titanium Black.

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.

Yeah. Been digging around a bit
And it seems to be the norm around with the flips.

May be phones need liquid cooling like the PC's now

Update.

I think the september update probably fixed the hot issue with WhatsApp or a WhatsApp update.

I might be a happy bunny now
