Z Flip 3 main screen malfunctioning - bug?

I've had my Z flip 3 for about three weeks now and I've encountered a strange bug, or i hope it's a bug. Main screen will sometimes malfunction while you either open or close the handset. Less of a problem when closed, but if the malfunctioning happens while opening. Screen won't turn on until you close the phone again or just wait it out for it to"refresh"? I've already got a replacement (i hope so...), which has the exact same problem as the first. Some good answers?

If samsung refuses to fix this problem then this will be the last samsung phone I buy. My s4 and s5 were great. The s8 was *****, the s10 5g was ***** and now this flip 3. I thought by the 3rd generation of this phone they would have things figured out. I GUESS NOT

I've had my flip since the day it was released.  Now I'm having the same problems as all of you out of nowhere.  I'm starting to thing this is a software issue now that so many people are also starting to report this all of a sudden.  Anytime I try to open my phone the screen immediately shuts off.. I try and flip it halfway and get my finger scanned and hope it doesn't shut off again when I open it completely

I have the same issue out of nowhere since last week.  Strange that this thread started in September 2021 and there is still no solution to this problem.

Having the same issue, its fairly frustrating and it seems like the numbers have gone up for folks with the new update?

This is becoming ridiculously annoying now, I have reset my entire phone and still as bad...this only started happening 3 weeks ago...then last week I barely had a problem but on Friday and today it's 3 or 4 times I have to flip for the screen to stop either turn on and go blank or the screen doesn't turn on at all

I had this problem and I think I fixed it on my end, but I haven't narrowed down exactly what I did. No problems for 3 days. My phone is North American.

Phone age: 4 months
When it started: OneUI update
Frequency: Inconsistent. At first it was once/twice a day. Then it was once every four opens. Then it was every open. Then I had to open/close it (or press power button twice) five times to get it to work. I was very worried it was a hardware issue.
What I saw:
- Screen would either not turn on at all when opened, or would turn on until 2/3 of the way open then shut off again
- Sometimes, the screen briefly flashed yellow before turning off
- Occasionally it would dim with a red tint
- Twice, it went very dim but wasn't all the way off - I could faintly see my screen
- Every time, pressing the power button to shut it off and back on again would make the phone work perfectly fine again
Things tried with no success:
- Safe Mode
- Disabling sensors
- Flight mode
- Disabling camera/microphone
- Disabling power saving/enhanced processing
- Disabling eye shield
- Natural display
- Disabling adaptive motion
- Disabling all the nice sound things (Dolby Atmos, custom sound profile...)
- Dimmed brightness
- Disabling vibration
- Disabling AOD

This happening with Safe Mode made me VERY worried it was a hardware issue.

I contacted Samsung through Samsung Members and they told me to just revert the OneUI update, which wasn't very helpful.

A few days ago I got very frustrated and sat down with my phone for a few hours. I gave up and just tried changing the settings on my phone to what I wanted to use, braced to live with this problem forever. I went through every setting menu and made things nice for myself. I uninstalled every app I didn't want, disabled all the Samsung/Google things I could that I didn't want to use, and for everything else Samsung or Google I didn't want to use I cleared the cache/data, disabled auto-update, revoked its permissions, put it into deep sleep, then hid it from my apps screen. I also deleted my many many many alarms I accumulated over the years and created just three.

Whether it was a setting, my alarms, or uninstalling/disabling/deep sleeping a Samsung/Google app, my phone is now significantly faster and my open/closing screen glitch is totally gone.

Has anyone had any luck with the screen issue?  Mine just started doing it.  I tried safemode and the problem goes away but once back in standard mode it keeps fading to yellow then off.

Hi, I had this issue finally contacted Samsung through the text chat, they picked it up next day and after 5 days my phone was returned looking brand new new screen, replaced battery too, works like it just come out the box for the first time....I'd high recommend just sending it back to them to be repaired

I have the same issue since last week, im using this phone for almost half a year. I need to try open and close the flip, screen eill lightly on when not open fully, or pressing the side buttons multiple time to get into camera mode, super annoying as I'm unable to answer the call as the screen is not turn on. By the way, I'm located in Singapore and I'm going to send to service centre to check later this evening. I doubt is software issue, this is more hardware issue
