Round 2 - Fold or Slab, ZFOLD6

Short post, was long but I lost it 😢 

Camera is becoming the most important mobile factor for me and the Fold and Flips just don't cut it, especially when thr Folds are the most expensive.

Seeing some stellar S24 Ultra trade in and cash back deals, meaning I could swap to an S24U for £400 and a free GW6 Classic (already have one).

Just hoping the ZFOLD6 finally gets a top notch camera or it might be the dreaded slab for me 😢

I had issues with fold 4 screen so opted to upgrade to S24 Ultra , had fold fixed under warranty and vodaphone gave me £405 trade plus samsung were offering £200 cash back .
Like you say until cameras are better , has IP68 rating and for me a decent sized cover screen I won't be swopping back .
It lasted about 12 months on replacement screen ( I dropped it ) so durability is an issue with folding phones , wouldn't want to keep one past manufacturers warranty

Yes, sadly, both my ZFold3 and ZFold4, even being super careful, had the same inner screen failure, both I was told to pay.

They are superb but not durable and need to be treat like jewellery with kid gloves, but I guess it's the Fold vs Slab trade off.

Mine did well considering I used it at work , dusty van , out in the rain sometimes , I was surprised it lasted so well but the experiment is over for me , that an a price increase and rubbish trade on values in the UK have put me off for now .
I'm interested in seeing the Pixel 9 Pro fold as I think the screen size will be better but won't jump back in until probably 10 or 11 pro fold as that's when TSMC are making their processor instead of samsung exynos

My tuppence worth...slab every time. Less to go wrong. It's like washer/dryers if one part breaks, the whole thing is goosed.

I am feeling the urge to give the folding phones a go... always had the plus and ultra series in recent years... S8+, S10+, s21u, s23u.

I have had a quick sales look at a fold5 in an experience store... but not much hands on.

It seems from leaks that the fold6 may not have all the hoped for improvements... for me the s pen integrated into chassis would have been a game changer... rather than needing a case and external pen. And obviously pro level cameras would have been good.

I am very tempted to give the fold a try, but equally might try and get a fold5 at a discount... if the fold6 is not as great an update.

Last week amazon were doing the fold5 (albeit 256) for ~£1200 with a £50 discount and £200 cashback... meaning around £950 brand new. This was tempting... but I decided to wait until unpacked has been and the specs of the Fold6 officially unveiled.

Ideally I won't trade in my S23u... and keep it just in case I don't take to the fold. Although if trade deals on the fold6 are good and I get bitten by the preorder bug, then who knows !

100% if you are tempted by a Fold or Flip, or maybe even try a Samsung test drive, think they recently did that in the UK for the S24 Ultra.

Its a bit marmite, I love Folds, but ...
