Well sadly the time had arrived to send the Z Fold 6 that the team at Samsung UK had loaned to me back. Was a little over three and a half months. But gave me a really good insight into the improvements over the Z Fold 5.
Now I've had a number of Z Fold phones over the years and so it wasn't a completely new experience.
Also got to use the Z Fold 6 very briefly after the Unpacked Event in Paris.
But on the surface it seems very similar to the older Z Folds.
One thing that became apparent over time was the lower weight of the phone. The Titanium used definitely helped with day to day carrying around.
Going back to my Z Fold 5, straight away the first thing I noticed was. It felt heavier.
But the biggest thing about the phone, that actually surprised me. It was the cameras.
I absolutely loved the cameras on the Z Fold 6.
So much so it was my default phone to go with over my S24 Ultra.
The colour reproduction was great.
Portrait Mode I really enjoyed as well, just so happy that it picked up the edges and gave an effect very similar you get from a proper Camera and Lens
The Astro photo of part of the Milkyway had me saying wow.
I've not had that reaction, for a long time.
I actually entered that photo into a competition with Snapdragon. The photo got picked for the end of year photo of the month online get together on their Snapdragon Insiders Discord community.
I was well happy😊.
Small improvements like the squared edges on the screens made them that bit bigger.
Still would like a slightly wider front screen.
But its something I actually used quite a lot.
I have big fat fingers and could still type etc short messages.
Think S Pen support on the front screen would be amazing if they could do that with future models.
But the S Pen Support on the inner screen made editing photos so much easier.
Being the inner screen is so large. I could easily do the finer details.
The inner screen is so versatile and something like split screen makes multitasking and multimedia a breeze.
The rich colours are pleasing to the eyes, and the sharp resolution to see all the details is great.
Battery life was another standout thing for me.
Easily lasts a day and more.
Even when I caned it with a heavy use day on the phone using maps, YouTube etc.
It could usually last most of the day.
Performance of the phone was never an issue.
It could do some heavy tasks at the same time and not slow down or had any issues.
It's a proper powerhouse of a phone.
The overall size of the phone is ideal really. I can hold it one handed unfolded quite easily. So I could easily work on documents and editing nice and easily.
My experience with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 has been a positive and really enjoyable one.
Although I've decided to keep my Z Fold 5 going for now.
Using the Z Fold 6 has got me really thinking about getting one now.
It was as close to my ideal phone as any has come so far.
It was reluctantly sent back as my time with the phone had run out.
But I'm so unbelievably thankful to
@SocietyGirl and
@Lucy C for the amazing opportunity for the experience to use one.
