Galaxy fold 4 internal screen issue after OneUI 6.1.1 update

Oh wow, where do I even start? So, after the amazing recent OneUI 6.1.1 "patch" (not update, mind you) that I got on my Fold 4, my internal screen decided it had had enough of me and went completely black. I mean, why would I want to use a screen on a phone that’s worth an arm and a leg, right? That’s just greedy. Sure, the screen is active—there’s a black void to prove it—but apparently, I’m just not worthy of seeing what's on it.

But wait, it gets better! When I switch to the small outer screen (you know, the one that’s meant to be a backup in case you wanted to pretend you own a normal phone), I’m greeted by a lovely message saying "OneUI has crashed." Oh, joy! Nothing like paying a premium price for a phone that’s decided to take a permanent nap after a patch.

So naturally, I trot off to the Samsung service center, hoping for some magic. The response? "Oh, you weren’t even supposed to get that update here. What you got were just some patches, not an actual update." Well, isn’t that comforting? Not only did I apparently get an update that wasn’t supposed to exist, but now even they can’t upgrade or downgrade the phone. It’s just stuck in some glitchy limbo, like a cosmic joke on me for thinking I could rely on this top-tier device.

Thanks, Samsung, for the wonderful experience. Really living up to the premium in premium phones. Can’t wait to see what else breaks! Maybe next time my phone will just start levitating instead of working. ✌️

Similar problem at my end from since I updated the software on my Fold 4 - the interior screen works fine but as soon as I close the phone (i.e. fold it away to display the exterior screen) the phone turns itself off completely and I need to reboot it.

Now I either need to carry my phone around unfolded all the time (which feels dangerous with such a fragile / expensive thing) or have to restart my phone each time I want to use it.  Kind of negates the whole point of having the Fold in the first place...

Hi

This is my problem too. Did you get any info?

I have exactly this issue but have noticed a few more things.

The screen seems to work until any audio tries to play, then the burst of static happens and the screen goes black.

Close the phone and wait about 40 seconds and the front screen starts working again but there is no working audio until phone is restarted.

When folded the front screen works perfectly OK. Unfolded it seems to be ok until I do something that makes a sound

I raised it with samsung support and they suggested using the Samsung members app to send feedback and attach diagnostic logs

Step 1. Launch the Samsung Members app.

Step 2. Tap on Support located at the bottom right of the screen.

Step 3. Scroll down and tap on 'Send feedback'.

Step 4. Tap on the pen icon on the lower right corner, and select 'Error reports'.

Step 5. Select the category related to the issue.

 Step 6. Tap on Frequency.

Step 7. Choose between Once, Often or Sometimes.

Step 8. Tap on the text box and explain the issue you are facing with your Galaxy device.

Step 9. Once the Error Report has been sent, you will be able to review within your feedback.

Once the  main screen has gone black, it won't work again until a restart, and will cause the front screen to go black for 40 seconds again.

On 17Nov24, I updated my z fold 4 to 6.1.1 and it says it has security patch level : 1 November 2024. I have the same problem with my internal screen is now gone. The outer screen is still working. I try to restart the phone and it gets stuck at Samsung logo and i have to press power+volume down buttons to get it restart again. One thing i also notice is that the eyeshield comfort is no longer working.

I am having the exact same issue. I have to unlock the phone in the outer display make a few swipes lock it again and then open the device to use the internal screen. The camera is crashing, and instagram on the inner display is giving several issues.
