difficulty dismissing lock screen notifications on galaxy s9

When my Galaxy S9 is locked, I have difficulty dismissing notifications by swiping. It usually takes several attempts swiping both left and right and up and down.

is this happening with all the notifications? Is the screen operating correctly whilst the phone is not locked?
