Wifi Calling often doesn't work

I used to have a S24+ and a Vodafone contract.

I live in an area with weak network signal and so used Wifi calling a home without any issues.

I recently upgraded to a S25+ and changed my network to Three at the same time. Now when I'm home 'Wifi calling' is used sometimes, but not always despite having a strong wifi signal from my router at all times and a 1Gig connection. When the call doesn't connect using Wifi calling the person on the other end often can't hear me (though I can always hear them).

Is there a way to know if an in-progress call is connected to wifi?    (I realise that after the call has ended I can check for the wifi icon in the call list.)

The other question I have is about how the use of wifi calling is established? So, mine isn't working all times, so is that likely to be the fault of the phone, the router, the broadband provider, or the network operator?

Thanks

Hey there and welcome to the Samsung UK and EU Community Forum

I'm aware of this question. Unless you set your WiFi Calling option to "Preferred " then if you have the smallest amount of signal from 4g or 5g (or 2g) then it will connect to that, even if week.

Hi piper thanks for reply. Unfortunately I have my phone set to wifi preferred already so this hasn't solved the problem. Any other ideas?

If I remember correctly from my time with Vodafone ages ago, it had to be activated online, in your MyVodafone portal. I'm not sure if Three is the same. If your phone is equipped (obviously, being the S25 Ultra) and WiFi calling is enabled with your carrier, and you haven't changed ISPs or routers, then I'd say it's the device.

Are you fully upgraded to the stable One UI 7? I know the S25 series was initially released with the beta version.

Apologies I misread 25Ultra but it's okay, the process is the same. 😬

Thank you. Yes I have wifi calling enabled and wifi preferred set but it just doesn't always use the WiFi even though the phone is connected to WiFi and I have a great broadband connection

Yes I've spoken to Three but I'm not sure they really understood the problem and they clearly got irritated because it didn't work with their script.
