I am currently using my S21Ultra that has 12gb Ram ?

This 25Ultra which is 4 years newer is coming Packed with AI tech but yet we Rest of the World Don't Deserve option to Have 16gbRam option but Asian Market Does? Doesn't make Sense? Why Not just make the 16Gb Ram a Samsung Site Exclusive aka Can't buy it from networks or else where only Samsung Website so mabye umm I dunno mabye if it was a Samsung Website/Store Exclusive you would have better idea of how popular it is

Does 16GB RAM actually make any difference ? Are there any tests that compare the two together ?

Quite simply 16GB is overkill in a mobile phone. The 12GB configuration for RAM is quite enough for all use cases including the most demanding tasks.

Why have an additional 4GB if it isn't used or needed ?

There are some other phones on the market that are fully loaded... but this is not always to improve the user experience... it is more for the marketing aspect... and to be a part of the specification war between manufacturers. 'Look at our phone with a 16GB RAM. It doesn't matter if it doesn't utilise it efficiently.

12GB is a good amount to provide all the necessary memory, and therefore there is no need. If benchmarks and performance tests showed a bottleneck in this area then I am sure that would change... but the performance is seen to be really good with this phone.

More important is the chipset, CPU and GPU. The RAM memory is not the bottleneck.

Don't buy into the marketing hype... or everything that is read on the Android websites. Enjoy the phone as it is... a flagship phone that arguably performs better than any other on the market now... even if it does have 12GB of RAM.

Marketing hype you said...

Google and others claimed that AI needed a lot of hardware to run efficiently and quickly. Then along comes the Chinese and crashes Nvidia's stock in one day. And Samsung claims that a single Snapdragon Elite little chip will be able to power AI-on-device stuff. Huh, who to believe? 😂

My S21 ultra 16gb RAM is sitting unused on my desk, not connected to the internet and using 8gb of RAM for what?

I am asking a question... does it make any difference in a comparative test between a 16GB and a 12GB model for S25u ? I haven't seen any data that should say otherwise.

My S21u i had a few years ago also had 16GB. Did it run like a demon or any different from any other. No not really.

There is more than just putting extra RAM in. For example the apps need to be optimised to use 16GB of RAM. Where most phones in the market have less... they will not develop their games with 16GB in mind.

There is also the argument that 'not all RAM is equal'. There are different specs of RAM that run at different speeds. You can have a larger RAM that runs at say 100MHz speed, and 12GB RAM that runs at 200MHz. Which do you think is more efficient ?

Additionally a qualcomm chipset or newer design and with 3nm technology and able to run at clock speeds up to 4.3Ghz and supporting faster RAM access... compared with an earlier chipset that doesn't support the same speeds for access to RAM.

These are extreme examples but just used to point out that there are many other reasons than just the RAM size. It is not simply just to place 16GB RAM and everything becomes faster and more efficient. There are many points to the design considerations.

Just food for thought. I am not saying it is all marketing hype, and maybe there are marginal improvements to be seen by adding more RAM. But if the apps from developers, chipset, bus speed don't support it efficiently, then it is a fairly useless upgrade.

This is an engineering type of response... take it as you will.

You think your phone will ever have the resources and capacity to natively run Deepseek on your device? Rude awakening but 16GB RAM isn't gonna cut it somehow. Dont conflate 2 totally separate issues to justify your rant over system RAM. Whilst I don't disagree that 16GB RAM would be nice to have, I can say first hand it's absolutely not necessary at this current stage in Android. My S21 Ultra has 16GB RAM and performs no better in any day to day apps and tasks over my S24 Ultra. Why increase potential costs for a system spec that will go completely unnoticed?

Let's remember how Samsung advertised the S24 series a year ago.

https://news.samsung.com/global/samsung-and-google-cloud-join-forces-to-bring-generative-ai-to-samsu...

Now Samsung claims that the S24 can't do everything the S25 series can. Well, that's marketing hype.

I'm not saying AI can run on 16GB of RAM. Samsung is saying AI can process some things offline on 12GB of RAM 😂😂😂

Which it can. Do you have anything to show to the contrary? It's not like the S24 or S23 for that matter didn't already demonstrate AI features.
