So out of the box no the Galaxy s24 Ultra S Pen cannot be used for Bluetooth capabilities on the s25 ultra. But if you watch Jerry rig everything's teardown video the s25 ultra he shows that they still have the charging ribbon cable that they've used all the way back from the Note 10 when they had Bluetooth features and it's still inside the S-Pen slot.
Now I don't know if because the s24 ultra S Pen is just a little bit different if it would still charge inside there or not it be interesting for someone to test that. Or Samsung may even have that turned off software based because they don't have any need for at the moment.
Also Galaxy phones that use the S Pen Pro all the way up until the s24 had a feature in the S Pen settings under the system settings and it was a three dot icon on the top right corner that allowed you to either reset the S-Pen which the s25 ultra S Pen does not need to be reset because there's no Bluetooth features and then there was also a scan for S Pen pro.
Well Samsung totally removed that so you can't even use the S Pen Pro out of the box with the Galaxy s25 ultra.
That being said soon we are going to be able to get the feature to be able to use the Galaxy s24 Ultra S Pen and the S Pen Pro on the s25 ultra to get the Bluetooth features back.
You may be asking how this is possible and as I'm writing this there is people in the custom ROM community that are currently working on a custom ROM for the Galaxy s25 Ultra that is going to use the software from the s24 ultra on the s25 ultra to be able to use the Galaxy s24 Ultra S Pen or the S Pen Pro to get the Bluetooth gestures back. It's just going to take a little bit for them to finish developing that.
But to be able to install custom roms on your phone you will have to unlock the bootloader which as far as I'm aware only is available to do on the unlocked Galaxy s25 Ultra that comes directly from Samsung as carrier variance like T-Mobile and stuff in the past have not allowed you to unlock the bootloader anymore. But then you'll have to root your device and have TWRP or some other root recovery on the phone. And once you do that it's going to not allow you to use Samsung wallet or Google wallet and there are some other apps that do detect root that you may not be able to use.
I do use Samsung wallet all the time but having the Bluetooth features back on the Galaxy s25 Ultra is more important to me than Samsung wallet and would gladly lose the functionality for Samsung wallet and Google wallet so I get the Bluetooth features back.
What custom roms are and do is basically a modified version of the OS software where people will tweak settings to improve battery life or add additional features that the phone normally doesn't have. I don't know if it's still a thing but you used to be able to even change the boot up screen to what you wanted also. It also can remove bloatware apps or system apps that you normally can't uninstall or just remove features entirely to just kind of speed up the phone. Some older phones can even run higher versions of Android that weren't necessarily allowed to run by removing some stuff and modifying the software so that it can handle and not be so slow and laggy on an older device.
Also I remember a while back when they used to do the note series and then the S Series someone made a custom rom that brought that S Pen features to the S Series when it normally wasn't on the S Series because you had to have a Galaxy Note to use those features but you could use the no S Pen on the S Series to get all those features.
Also to the S Pen on the Galaxy s24 Ultra does fit inside there and it does respond to the sound when you put it in and take it out however once you stick it all the way in the back of the S Pen just sticks out a hair in there so it's not going to be fully secured in there.
But I mean it's not going to be falling out just randomly unless you have dropped your phone and it popped out or something cuz even like ones that are more secured in there that are made for the phone that come with it I've had where the S-Pen comes ejected out if the phone dropped or something.
And then at that point I'd be buying a Galaxy s24 Ultra S Pen to get the Bluetooth features back!
I'm super excited for this and I just wish there was a way to be able to get Samsung wallet and Google Wallet also working. I know you used to be able to root via magisk or whatever it was called which was a different way of rooting that wouldn't detect with the apps but I think the apps now detect that.
But if people are taking the time to make a custom rom to get the Bluetooth features back and to be able to use the S Pen Pro and the s24 ultra S Pen on the Galaxy s25 Ultra that's saying something and Samsung needs to take note of this that they need to come out with a Bluetooth S Pen and I would pay extra for it even if it was $100 as long as it fits inside the existing slot.
There was a blog post on a Samsung website and then also a leaked item in the UK Samsung website where it was showing that they were going to have a Bluetooth S-Pen for purchase and they talked about it on this blog post. Samsung later came back and said this is false and we're not releasing an S-Pen with Bluetooth features on the Galaxy s25 Ultra but the hardware for charging a Bluetooth S Pen is still inside the slot so hopefully they do come out with Bluetooth s pen.
There is a change.org petition and at the time of writing this has 7,472 signatures on petitioning to bring back the Bluetooth features on the s26 ultra which I hope comes sooner before the s26 ultra.
