Hello 👋 @jamesband
There must be something in your settings that is stopping this.
I say this because on my Samsung Galaxy s²⁵ Ultra i get these 🤔
I appreciate you say you've followed steps already.
May I suggest to perform a forum search as you may find already existing threads with help and advice within.
In your Notifications Settings , Lock Screen Notifications are Cards chosen.
Show content is also activated on mine.
How-to-fix-the-notifications-not-appearing-on-my-samsung-device.
A generic troubleshooting step is > Clear Cache Files from the phone's System Partition Section > https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/how-do-i-clear-the-cache-on-my-device/ You may need to insert your earphones or hook upto a powered On Laptop or use a Tv's USB Port or a usb-c to usb-c phone to phone set up to access the Clear Partition Section. This may help with lag or stutters as this clears the phone of old/unused or broken cache files.There is also a Repair Apps option in the Menu System too { Possibly excluding the s²⁴ Series of phone's }
If i can be of any further help please don't hesitate to ask 😎

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.
I'm here to help. " This is the way. "

On my S25 Ultra, I get vibrations, camera flash, full screen popups showing who it is and repeating until answered for FB messages, text's.
All this can be done in settings/notifications. I'm deaf due to Tinnitus, so this is important. This is a extremely advanced phone so it took me awhile of tinkering to get it right. I was frustrated at first but got it figured out after a few tries. There are LOT's of options. Since your coming from I-phones is why your having problems... Completely different phones, after awhile you'll be okay. I always have the pdf manual on my phone as well. And if all else fails, I come to this forum and also google search.

As you're new to Android, I would suggest using Smart Tutor—a service from Samsung to help with your device.
