OneDrive photo ordering is incorrect in Samsung Gallery

Hi all, I'm in the process of migrating from Apple Photos over to Samsung Gallery through OneDrive. I've backed up all my photos onto OneDrive from my old iPhone and they seem to all be in the right place with the correct taken on meta data. 

The OneDrive iOS app splits them into year and month folders which is helpful. On the Samsung side I've turned on the OneDrive sync and added one months of folders into the shared Samsung Gallery folder. 

Weirdly around half of the 100 or so pictures show up in the right date order (December 2020) but the other half look have been taken today. 

Going into one of these incorrectly sorted folders and the meta on the photo still seems correct (it's listed as if it was taken in December) but it's just shown at the top of the gallery. 

Whats going on here?

Hello and welcome, it is probably the file naming and meta data, recall when I did the same with my sons iPhone, same method as you, its wasn't quite right, but I just accepted different O/S and doing things a bit different, but agree a date is a date it shouldn't change, only suspicion I had was maybe photos I had edited or removed location information.
